We’re a small, dedicated team of gamer-developers who all agreed on the genre we wanted to tackle next—medieval city-builder/strategy. But we also understood the importance of being selective and realistic about which innovations we could meaningfully deliver.

We explored several high-level design directions, but there was one concept we kept coming back to: What if we approached the genre from a more character-driven perspective?

Could we keep everything we love about traditional city-builders while grounding the player’s experience in a more personal and immersive way—by shifting their POV from an all-seeing eye in the sky to an actual, contextual ‘boots on the ground’ character living in the world?

We knew from the start that shifting perspectives for this kind of game was a bold move—and as a small indie team, we don’t have the luxury of unlimited time or resources. That’s exactly why we’re here. Early Access lets us open the doors early and invite you in, not just to play, but to help shape the game alongside us.

Yes, we have a roadmap (and a pretty ambitious one), but at the end of the day, we’re fans building something for fans. If there are features you want prioritized, or systems you think need tuning—more of this, less of that—we’re listening. Early Access gives us the chance to make Noble Legacy better with you, not just for you.

Villagers are the heart of your settlement. Once collected, task them with gathering resources like food, wood, and stone, then refine those resources into materials needed for construction and progress. As your economy grows, the correct assignment of villagers will enable automated production, allowing you to focus on other matters.

Villagers are also your first line of defense—train and equip them to protect Greenwood from thieves, raiders, and growing threats.

Accessible, but with hidden depth. As you play, you’ll occasionally receive recruitment notifications—alerts that certain individuals are interested in joining your town. Each potential villager comes with specific requirements that must be met before they’ll commit. In some cases, you may already meet these conditions just through regular gameplay. In others, you’ll need to take deliberate steps to fulfill their needs and earn their loyalty.

Villagers can die or leave town! Villagers may depart if they are dissatisfied with the town, either because their needs are not being met or their morale has dropped too low for too long. As for death, villagers can die from bandits and brigands attacking the town. If they’re knocked unconscious they will die if not revived soon enough.

Yes, the game has unique events and we are always adding more. We want to keep the specifics a secret for now, as we want players to be surprised by these as they play. Events are designed to spice up gameplay by throwing complications, challenges and immersion into the experience. Events may be things like weather events or natural disasters, requests from specific villagers, or they may be more reactive, such as funerals or weddings for important villagers.

In early access, fishing is a simple but reliable way to gather food and support your villagers. However, with the upcoming Wildlands Update, fishing will evolve into a much more engaging and rewarding activity. New features will include an interactive fishing minigame, the use of bait and specialized gear, and a diverse array of catchable fish. Some fish offer unique cooking or crafting bonuses, while others may be sought after for quests or town bragging rights.

Combat is currently very straightforward and we are planning to overhaul the entire system to be more fun and action/adventure-like. It will  be simple, intuitive and powerful, with a skil curve and necessary depth.

In EA securing your legacy is all about creating monuments, a mechanic that involves crafting structures of artistic or cultural importance that will stand the test of time. Statues aren’t’ just for show, they can have a variety of effects on your settlement! A threatening statue may incentivize villagers to work harder, but be less content, while a kind statue may have the opposite effect..

While romance and families are not currently part of Early Access, we recognize this is a highly requested feature, and it is on our future roadmap. Even now, behind the scenes, we are prototyping a variety of romance options including the ability to woo, court and even marry NPCs. Separately we are looking into giving villagers the ability to do the same amongst themselves, autonomously forming family units.

For our EA launch the map is hand crafted, but there are plenty of places you can start your settlement-build on the map that will give a very  different experience. Going forward we are hoping to add more procedural capabilities into the maps to keep the experience fresh on repeat playthroughs.

For the most part no, we are playing with superstition and very low-fantasy magic, but don’t expect to see fireballs and flying carpets. You may meet a witch in the woods or a mythic beast on a hunt, but those are additions planned on our roadmap.

Our game is currently focused on the single-player experience. If we see there is a lot of desire for multiplayer, we have had conversations around adding co-op.

Depending on reception, we are always looking at the possibility of bringing Noble Legacy to all platforms that can handle it. Note that we don’t believe this includes mobile, as the game is too technologically demanding for a majority of phones.

There will, but not for EA.  Expect to see a lot more controller options as we continue to develop.
