Demo Update Patch Notes – 1.0.0.53248

This patch includes major improvements across the board — from building and villager behavior to UI and performance. We’ve fixed crashes when starting a new game, resolved keybinding issues, overhauled build snapping, improved AI logic, cleaned up the tech tree, and delivered a ton of quality-of-life improvements. Expect a smoother, more intuitive experience with added polish and greater stability.

Key Fixes & Features

  • Players should no longer crash when clicking New on the main menu
  • Rebinding arrow keys should no longer interrupt movement

Gameplay & Systems

  • Villagers now eat properly to resolve hunger/starvation
  • Crafting now works with the Tavern Keeping job
  • Campaign now continues properly after the church quest (matches Sandbox behavior)
  • Hunger now impacts morale more fairly (decay timing fixed)
  • Morale from bad weather reduced (less punishing)
  • New recruits gain a temporary morale boost
  • Grumpy trait penalty reduced (from -10 to -5)
  • Trait updates:
    • “Lazy” trait replaced with a new version
    • Temporary “Intelligent” trait added
    • Trait effects now correctly apply when reassigned
  • Beds are now only usable when villagers are in the rest state
  • Building types now apply proper tags to the kingdom system
  • Challenge timers increased to give players more breathing room

AI & Villagers

  • Improved idle behavior and movement logic
  • Increased AI timeout duration to reduce stuck states

  • AI avoids reloading hand-placed characters
  • Villagers no longer require upkeep unless morale drops below 20
  • Tier 1 and Tier 2 villagers now have short descriptions
  • Fixed AI walking under stairs and clipping through pews

Build System & Placement

  • Reworked snapping system:
    • Toggle between None, Small (25), and Large (50)
    • Removed CTRL + Scroll snap distance adjustment
    • UI now shows snap modes instead of distances

  • Fixed buildings merging or shifting positions unexpectedly
  • Building upgrades now preserve custom names
  • Dining tables no longer float
  • Structure part replacement re-enabled (toggle with ‘Y’)
  • Fixed trace bug when switching camera views
  • Extended roof weather-blocking volumes
  • Disabled Niagara components during placement
  • Fixed collision issues on some doors and pews
  • Weather-blocking volumes can no longer be altered in packaged builds
  • Tables now contribute correctly to housing requirements
  • Build menu now displays locked items
  • Clay and iron ore now appear in the storehouse UI (not stored by default)
  • Gables rescaled and better aligned with roofs

UI & User Experience

  • Build “Replace Mode” checkbox replaced with clear On/Off labels
  • Storehouse menus fully synced and unified
  • Market menu item info is now consistent across all menus
  • Scenario menu and text updated
  • Added “Edit Character” button to main menu
  • Snap mode toggle feedback added to build input overlay

  • Quit warning now shows time since last save

Inventory & Items

  • Player now starts with a sword
  • Harvest task radius increased from 50m to 300m
  • Fixed previously unstackable items now stacking correctly
  • Fixed highlight lingering after unequipping the hammer

Save & Load System

  • Save system now uses local time
  • Improved both manual and auto-save workflows
  • Added “Reset All Settings” button
  • Fixed disappearing video settings panel
  • Storehouse item limits now saved
  • Autosaves now labeled clearly and separated
  • Load screen now shows detailed save metadata
  • Fixed infinite loop when placing weapon racks
  • Fixed load issues with hand-placed AI and roads

Controls & Input

  • Snap mode toggle now works while holding the hammer
  • Gamepad type (Xbox/PlayStation) now detected dynamically

Visuals & Art

  • Rebuilt maps for improved performance and lighting
  • Applied weather effects to stone foundations and floors
  • Reduced forest berry bush density by ~25% (meadow density unchanged)
  • Fixed prefab lighting that appeared too dark at night
  • Missing furniture restored in campaign home
  • Optimized lights like campfires and candles
  • Re-enabled weather effects and improved time-of-day visuals
