Elisabeth was raised in a family of night watchmen, a vocation she has dabbled in since she was of age. She has an uncanny ability to function in the dark hours of the day that borders on the supernatural, a talent that is indispensable to any village that needs to function at all hours.
Amabel was an absolutely uncontrollable child, so much so that she was sent to a convent to quell her wild spirit and set her on the path to the service of the lord. Not one to be controlled, Amabel fled the convent in short order and set to live her life on her own terms, one that she is sure will end in her admittance to heaven.
Nicholas’s life has been one of loss and death, his previous village and family were wiped out by plague and burned to stop the spreading. He bears these emotional scars as well as an unhealthy obsession with death and dying.
Fergus is the village fool who entertains children with juggling tricks learned from traveling performers. Though, behind his smile, he mourns a wife and child who died in childbirth.
